I have to write a write an essay in APA format and identify a patient and complete a full assessment of a family, another family you know well or a TV/movie family. I have attached the rubric and expectations below, they are all laid out into their particular categories.Using the information from your resources (website videos of Dr. Denham’s
discussion of the Family Health Model, readings, etc.), complete an assessment of
your own family, another family you know well or a TV/movie family. Identify a
“patient” or a “problem” within the family – a reason the family has come to the
attention of the healthcare team. The result should be a paper including the
following elements:
1. Introduction of the family and the identified patient or problem within the
family – if you use a real family, identify it as such but do not give the actual
family name or contact information.
2. Assessment of family in narrative form using headings and subheadings per
APA formatting. The key elements to include (all with subheadings per APA):
Demographic data for all members
Illness or health promotion concerns for all members
Family structure and developmental information for all members
Family health promotion activities
Family economic and cultural status
Family connections to the larger community
• Usual ways the family manages an illness, injury or developmental transitions
• Usual ways the family communicates, solves problems, and makes decisions
about health and illness. What helps? What creates barriers?
Next, perform an Analysis of the family. Your analysis should include (use
subheadings for each area per APA):
.
Strengths
• Areas for improvemen
• How the community could be involved
• How we, as healthcare providers, can best assist this family
• SHORT discussion on how your approach may be different if using the systems
O
SHORT discussion on how your approach may be different if using the systems
vs. ecological model
• How using the “thinking family” approach is different from caring for the
individual
• How at least one other discipline can assist you in caring for this family
Then provide a short conclusion – one paragraph is fine.
The paper is expected to be approximately 10-12 pages including the title and
reference pages. No abstract page is required. If another page number is included
in another place within the course, this page limit overrides it. I will stop reading
after page 12.
You should also highlight the revisions you make in your final draft and provide
an explanation following your reference page per the grading rubric.
The rubric is included here for your guidance when completing the assignment.
This assignment is ungraded.
I am unable to provide a sample paper, as the paper has been revised per previous
student feedback.
